A 'superb' period drama based on a true story is keeping Netflix subscribers up until 3am. The 2022 biographical thriller 'Rogue Agent' stars James Norton (Happy Valley, Grantchester) as Robert Freegard, a conman who posed as an MI5 agent, and Gemma Arterton (Secret Service) as the solicitor who uncovers his lies.
Unbelievable True Story
Set in the 1990s and early 2000s, the film follows Freegard as he manipulates victims into believing they are part of a critical espionage mission, defrauding them of money. His scheme unravels when he begins a relationship with astute solicitor Alice Archer, played by Arterton, who quickly spots inconsistencies in his story.
The supporting cast includes Marisa Abela (Back to Black), Sarah Goldberg (Barry), and Shazad Latif (Wuthering Heights).

Others hailed it as a 'superb British film' and a 'must watch,' with one commending Norton for playing 'the con man with a believable combination of charm and selfish ruthlessness.'
