Neighbours Star Terence Donovan Dies at 90, Son Jason Pays Tribute

Australian actor Terence Donovan, best known for his roles in Neighbours and Home and Away, has died at the age of 90. His sons, Jason and Paul Donovan, announced the news on social media, paying tribute to their father as their "best friend."

Death Announced by Son Jason Donovan

Jason Donovan, the pop star and actor who rose to fame on Neighbours, shared the sad news on Instagram. In a statement signed by himself and his brother Paul, he revealed that Terence died peacefully in Melbourne over the weekend. The statement read: "It is with great sadness but also a sense of celebration of a long, full life that myself and my brother Paul announce our father Terence died peacefully last night here in Melbourne."

Jason added: "Obviously this is an extremely emotional time and we ask you to respect our privacy. We want to pay tribute to all the wonderful staff at Cabrini Hospital, Melbourne who looked after him in his final days." He described his father as "a huge character. Larger than life. He was our best friend... Our world. We will desperately miss him but we take comfort knowing we were all here by his side in his final days."

Career Spanning Seven Decades

Terence Donovan's acting career began in the early 1960s and lasted almost 70 years. He appeared in iconic Australian films such as Breaker Morant and The Man from Snowy River. On television, his credits included Homicide and the popular soap Sons and Daughters. He also guest-starred on Neighbours, the show that made his son Jason a global star.

Born in London in October 1935, Terence moved to Australia in the late 1950s, where he built a successful acting career. His family has requested privacy during this difficult time.
