Ned Porteous has played villainous Joe Tate on Emmerdale since 2017, but his life away from the soap is less dramatic. The actor, born Edward Graham Porteous on 7 July 1994, hails from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.
Early Career and EastEnders Role
After attending Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Acting from Guildford School of Acting in 2015. His acting debut came in September 2015 on BBC's Holby City as Rufus Lucas.
In 2016, Porteous joined EastEnders as Mark Fowler Jr, the son of Michelle Fowler and Grant Mitchell. His character arrived from Florida seeking his biological father but left after a month to avoid Mitchell family drama.
Romantic History
In 2019, Porteous began dating actress Lucy Heath. A source told The Sun: "It's early days but Ned is really enjoying dating Lucy. They have both been in America recently looking for work and grew really close." The relationship appeared to end by 2022.
In 2022, reports linked him to Sophia Lo, with the couple sharing photos on social media. By 2024, both had removed images of each other, suggesting a split.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8:00pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
