Natalie Cassidy, 43, has hinted at when her iconic EastEnders character Sonia Fowler might return to Albert Square, just over a year after leaving the soap in April 2025. The actress, who played Sonia for over two decades across two stints, suggested fans may see her again in 2033.
Cassidy Reveals Possible Return Date
Speaking about her departure, Cassidy explained she left because she felt she needed to be "brave" and explore other opportunities. She has since launched her own podcast and documentary series. Reflecting on her exit, she said: "I was 41 and I thought 'No I've got to get out of here'." Noting her career pattern, she quipped: "It's really weird because the pattern was, I started when I was ten, I did 12 years, had eight years off and then I went back for 12 and I left. So maybe I will go back in eight years you never know do you?" This suggests a potential return in 2033.
Sonia's Bali Exit and Plot Holes
Sonia left Walford to start a new life in Bali with her newborn baby. Cassidy poked fun at the storyline's inconsistencies, laughing: "She's living it up in Bali she took her little baby to Bali who was about two days old with no passport, it's hilarious. I don't even think the birth was registered... But anything can happen in soap world!"
Cassidy Opens Up About Cosmetic Procedures
In addition to discussing her EastEnders future, Cassidy shared her thoughts on plastic surgery. Speaking on the podcast Please Keep Me Anonymous, she revealed: "I've never had any botox, never any injection in my life. I think we will make a fortune in years to come as it will become so rare to have had nothing done!" However, she admitted to having a boob job when she was younger, which she now regrets, especially as a mother to two daughters. She explained: "I did have my boobs done years ago though, I was 19 or 21, I was much bigger down below and I wanted to even myself out, but that annoys me now having daughters it annoys me."
