Award-winning Bollywood actor and filmmaker Nana Patekar has died suddenly at the age of 75 after suffering a cardiac arrest at his home in Goa. He was rushed to hospital, where doctors attempted to save him for around 45 minutes before he was pronounced dead at 5.20am.
What happened at his home
Patekar was at home with his nephew Prasad and had been complaining of a headache since the previous evening. He was later found unconscious and taken to hospital, but could not be revived.
His son, Malhar Patekar, was in Pune and has left for Goa, according to sources.
Career and legacy
Born on January 1, 1951, in Maharashtra, Patekar won three National Film Awards and was known for his ability to portray complex and unconventional characters. His notable films include Natsamrat, Wajood, Parinda, Ab Tak Chhappan and Yeshwant.
Most recently, he appeared in a cameo in Subedaar, which featured stars including Anil Kapoor, Radhika Madan and Saurabh Shukla and was released on Prime Video.
