Two women jogging apparently naked down a busy Los Angeles high street have been identified as Russian-born twin fashion designers Daria and Maria Vasilieva. The stunt, posted on Instagram by Influencers in the Wild with the caption 'Average day in LA', was actually a promotional video for their new FIFA fashion collection.
Blink-182 Homage
The video drew immediate comparisons to Blink-182's 1999 music video for 'What's My Age Again?', in which band members Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus run naked through LA streets, with only pixelation covering their modesty. The twins posted a side-by-side comparison of their jog and the original video, writing: 'Endless love and respect to Blink-182. Their iconic video inspired this whole idea.'
FIFA Fashion Collection
The Vasilieva twins, who run a brand specializing in 'couture' versions of classic football shirts, organized the jog to celebrate the launch of their FIFA collection. The line includes designer versions of Argentina, Brazil, and Barcelona tops, worn by celebrities like Christina Aguilera and the band Katseye.
Behind the Stunt
Unlike the original Blink-182 video, the joggers wore nude-colored bodysuits to create the illusion of nudity. In an Instagram post, the twins explained: 'Our FIFA collection has been one of the craziest and most successful moments for our brand, so we wanted to finish this chapter with a little fashion film. Thank you to everyone who joined us and became part of this video.' The video has garnered hundreds of thousands of views online.
