Myles Smith has cancelled a show in Vancouver, Canada, scheduled for August 4, due to a “major family health issue”. The British singer shared a statement on Instagram explaining the decision.
“To everyone who was planning on coming to the Vancouver show. You may have received a notification that the show has been cancelled. I wanted to explain why, because I never want to leave you in the dark,” Smith wrote.
Singer prioritises family
“There has been a major family health issue at home, and important appointments are taking place on that date. I simply can’t not be there. Family has to come first, and this wasn’t a decision I made lightly,” he said.
Smith acknowledged the inconvenience for fans: “I know many of you have spent your hard-earned money, made travel plans and set aside time to be there. The fact that you continue to show up for me means more than I can put into words, and I never want to take that for granted or lose the trust we’ve built together.”
Other shows unaffected
He assured ticket holders for subsequent dates that only the Vancouver show is affected. “I also want to reassure everyone with tickets for the shows after Vancouver that this decision is specific to this date because of those appointments. As things stand, the rest of the shows are going ahead as planned, and I can’t wait to see you.”
Smith added: “I will always try to be as open and transparent with you as I can. I respect you all too much not to be. I would never cancel a show unless I absolutely had to.” He noted that over the past four years he has played more than 400 shows and cancelled only four, all for reasons beyond his control.
“I don’t say that to make excuses, but to show you how seriously I take the commitment of showing up for you,” he wrote. “I’ve already seen some of the frustration and disappointment, and I completely understand it. If you’d booked time off, travelled, or spent money to be there, I’d feel exactly the same.”
He concluded: “I’m truly sorry and I’ll be back as soon as it’s feasibly possible. Thank you for continuing to support me. It means more than you’ll ever know.”
Background and upcoming tour
Earlier this month, Smith posted that he had gone home for a few days to “be with the people I love”. He wrote: “There’s a lot going on in my personal life right now.”
Smith released his debut album My Mess, My Heart, My Life last month. He is next due to play in Sacramento, California, on Tuesday night. The UK leg of his tour begins in Kingston on October 1 and ends in London on November 20.
Smith is best known for his 2024 singles Stargazing and Nice To Meet You. He received three nominations at the 2025 Brit Awards and won the Rising Star award.
