Myleene Klass has been awarded an MBE at Windsor Castle for her campaign to raise awareness of miscarriage and advocate for legal changes. The 47-year-old musician and presenter said the honour sends a clear signal that women's healthcare 'needs to move forward'.
Speaking after the ceremony, Ms Klass, who has endured four miscarriages, said King Charles himself had acknowledged that miscarriage care must improve. 'We’re actually in a position where we can change the law, and women can benefit from it,' she told the PA news agency.
Ms Klass, who rose to fame with pop group Hear’Say before building a career as a classical musician, presenter and entrepreneur, described feeling 'invisible' during her own experiences. 'There’s so much negativity about miscarriage healthcare – women feel so lost, so dragged down by it all,' she said.
Also honoured at the investiture was Leona Lewis, 40, who received an OBE for her music career and charity work focused on animal welfare and the environment. Former health secretary Patricia Hewitt, 76, was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire for her contributions to public health and NHS reform.
Dame Patricia said the smoke-free legislation she helped steer through Parliament in 2007 was her most important political achievement, saving more lives than expected. Other recipients included Sir Warren East, former chief executive of Rolls-Royce, and Sir Nick Gibb, former Schools Minister.
