Mum finds Nando's sauce and salt in son's school bag

A mother from Sheffield was astonished to find her missing condiments in her 12-year-old son's school bag. Alice Hempsey, 30, discovered a 500g bottle of Nando's Peri-Peri sauce and pink Himalayan salt in her son Carter Palmer's rucksack while retrieving his PE kit. The items had gone missing from her kitchen.

Son admits to taking condiments to school

After confronting her son, Alice learned that Carter, a year 7 pupil, had taken the items to school to season his lunch. He complained that the chicken and chips served at school are 'bland'. Alice says Carter is obsessed with spicy sauces and puts them on everything he eats.

Alice, a community nurse, found the situation hilarious and shared a video on social media. The post garnered over 240,000 views and 22,000 likes. She said: 'I just found it really funny. I had gone into his school bag to take out his PE kit and noticed his bag was quite heavy. I then noticed the Nando's sauce and the salt, I couldn't find earlier for my dinner, in his bag.'

Social media users praise Carter's ingenuity

Many social media users praised Carter for his clever idea. One user commented: 'Listen, the kid needs flavouring. Actually, pretty ingenious. I hope he was charging others for a bit of pizzazz on their food.' Another said: 'Smart kid. I'm a teacher and school dinners are terrible. I have salt and mayo in my desk drawer for the days I'm desperate enough to eat the school dinner.'

Alice is now planning to buy small containers for Carter to transport his sauces, preventing him from carrying the large glass bottle. She added: 'He says school dinners can just be quite bland but I suppose they're meant to be quite healthy. He said it's the first time he did this but I normally work on a Friday but I was off this day.'
