Carla Bellucci, a 44-year-old former glamour model and mother of four from Hitchin, Hertfordshire, is preparing to sunbathe entirely naked in her back garden during the third heatwave in as many months, despite objections from her neighbours. Temperatures are expected to exceed 35°C in parts of the UK later this week, and Bellucci is determined to avoid tan lines by shedding all clothing.
Bellucci's Defiant Stance
Speaking to this reporter, Bellucci, who turns 45 this month, stated: "Heatwave is back and I'm spending my days naked in my garden much to my neighbours' anger. They are so tall they can peer at me over the fence. Don't like it? Don't look." She explained her reasoning: "I feel free and liberated so why not? It's too hot for clothes. I have a banging body so why not show it off and my husband doesn't mind the view." She added, "And no tan marks – it's an all-round winner."
Neighbours' Reactions and Legal Considerations
Bellucci described her neighbours as "snobby" and claimed they think she "lowers the tone" as an ex-glamour model and influencer. She insisted that since she pays a considerable amount to live there, she will do as she pleases. However, public nudity in England and Wales can be illegal under Section 66 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 if it is intended to cause "distress or alarm." The Crown Prosecution Service notes that a balance must be struck between naturists' freedom of expression and the public's right to be protected from harassment. Sunbathing naked in a garden overlooked by neighbours could potentially cause distress, but it only becomes unlawful if deliberate intent is proven.
Encouraging Others
Despite the legal nuances, Bellucci is unconcerned and urged fellow Brits to "let it all hang out" during the heatwave. She said: "All I hear is people moaning about the weather. I would tell Brits to enjoy it while it lasts, get naked, let it all hang out and grab a vino and enjoy life." She is heading to Italy next week and sees the heatwave as perfect timing to enhance her tan.
