John Mulaney has revealed that he is a significant financial contributor to his wife Olivia Munn's extended family. Speaking on comedian Mike Birbiglia's Working It Out podcast, Mulaney described how he supports her large Vietnamese family based in Oklahoma City.
The comedian said: "For the first 39 years of my life, I supported zero Vietnamese people — probably none — and now I have 10 on the books." He noted that he derives great joy from helping Munn's relatives, especially since his own parents, both lawyers, never needed his financial support.
When asked by Birbiglia whether he worries his money could affect his relationship with Munn's family, Mulaney replied that there is no ambiguity: "There’s no wonder. In the back of the mind? You mean the front of the voice? The front of the voice — the words coming out of their mouth?" He described the family as blunt and straightforward.
Mulaney and Munn married in July 2024 in an intimate ceremony at a friend's home in New York, attended only by their four-year-old son Malcolm and a witness. They welcomed a daughter, Méi June Mulaney, via surrogate in September 2024.
The couple first sparked romance rumours in 2021 after Mulaney separated from his wife of six years, Anna Marie Tendler. Mulaney confirmed the pregnancy later that year on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
