Emmerdale's Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) faces a life-changing decision but is forced to exit the village. After a difficult period with Cain (Jeff Hordley) shutting her out due to his cancer, she has been running the family alone. Cain's refusal of further treatment without considering his family made things harder.
The dog Monty's cancer diagnosis became a turning point, making Cain realise that his desire to save Monty mirrors his family's wish to save him. Cain had been ignoring son Kyle's struggles, who was setting barn fires to cope. Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) discovered this and tried to help, driving a wedge between Kyle and his dad.
Cain agrees to treatment, then retreats
Good news came when Cain decided to get treatment, thanks to Monty's dire situation. However, as Monty nears the end of his life, Cain becomes withdrawn again, distancing himself from Moira. He fears his treatment may not work and starts considering the future without him.
Cain makes a huge request: he wants Moira to adopt Kyle, who has already lost his mother and may lose his father too. This would ensure Kyle always has Moira, provided she stays out of prison. Before he can share the idea with Kyle, Moira receives bad news – Nana Barton is injured, and she must leave town immediately.
Kyle's decision and devastating news
Despite Moira's departure, Cain decides to tell Kyle about the adoption plan. Kyle does not take it well and seeks advice from Kerry (Laura Norton). As he returns to tell Cain his decision, the family is hit with devastating news: Monty is in his final stages, and Moira is not there to comfort anyone. With Kyle already fragile, the question remains whether this news will spark another fire.
