Mo Gilligan: From Levi's to Fiancée and Fatherhood

Mo Gilligan rose to fame in 2017 after sharing funny comedy sketches online. The 38-year-old Londoner was working at a clothing retailer when he began posting clips on social media. His observational comedy, impersonating groups of girls, annoying siblings, and peculiar uncles, quickly gained a following.

Early Career and Breakthrough

During his early career, Mo worked as a shop assistant at Levi's. His comedy became so popular that shoppers visited the store specifically to meet him. In 2017, his life changed when rapper Drake noticed a parody video titled 'Cockney guys when they see a bit of sun'. In the video, Mo adopts a cockney accent, exclaiming: 'F****** hell, it's a bit hot. Jesus f****** Christ, it's like Jamaica. Julie, get a coupla cans in! Get a coupla cans, love.' Drake posted the video on Instagram, writing: 'Enjoying this Julie bring me a couple cans weather today.'

Rise to Stardom

Mo has since enjoyed enormous success with his stand-up performances, selling out his debut UK tour in just two minutes. He co-hosted Channel 4's The Big Narstie Show with rapper Big Narstie and later secured his own show, The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan. He also serves as a panellist on ITV's The Masked Singer, has hosted the Brit Awards, and appears on Celebrity Gogglebox with actor and comedian Babatunde Aleshe.
