The cause of death for Mary Jo Shannon, Kris Jenner's mother known as MJ, has been revealed. MJ died at age 91 on July 16.
According to her death certificate obtained by US Weekly, she passed from acute cardiopulmonary arrest. Other conditions contributing to her death included acute respiratory failure and metastatic lung cancer, which she lived with for months.
Family Tributes
Kris Jenner announced her mother's death in a touching Instagram tribute. She wrote: "Today, we said goodbye to my beautiful Mommy MJ. There are no words that could ever capture what she has meant to me or the heartbreak of having to say goodbye. My mom was the heart of our family."
She continued: "She taught me everything that truly matters… to love your family fiercely, to be kind, to show up for the people you love, and to never take a single moment together for granted. She taught us that family is everything. She showed us how to love unconditionally and how to find joy in the little moments."
Kim Kardashian also paid tribute on social media, saying: "My sweet Grandma MJ, my best friend, my gossip buddy, my forever twin... You taught all of us the importance of family, and those values are something we'll carry with us forever!"
Cremation and TV Appearances
MJ was cremated days after her death. She was a regular on the family's reality TV shows, including Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
