Missé Beqiri, star of The Real Housewives of Cheshire, has opened up about the devastating phone call informing her that her former partner Jake Hall had died. Hall, 35, a former cast member of The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE), was found dead at a holiday villa in Majorca last month. His funeral was held earlier this month at St Mary the Virgin Church in Wanstead, East London.
Details of the Tragic Discovery
Speaking on Paul C Brunson's podcast We Need to Talk, Beqiri recounted the surreal circumstances surrounding her learning of Hall's death. She was in Majorca after a series of travel mishaps: she had lost her passport while en route to a magazine cover shoot in Ibiza, and due to her Swedish citizenship and post-Brexit rules, she was unable to fly directly back to England. Instead, police directed her to fly to Majorca to visit the Swedish embassy.
Beqiri recalled waking up to ten missed calls from Hall's father. Initially fearing something had happened to their eight-year-old daughter, River, she was shocked to learn the truth. "The dad was like… 'it's not River, it's Jake.' And the way he said Jake's name, I was like, he's in a hospital, he's in jail. Like the last thought for me was that he was gone… And he was like, 'he's dead'," she said.
Emotional Aftermath and Grief
Beqiri described entering a state of panic, immediately blaming herself and thinking of River. "I thought of River, I was like, 'no, no, she doesn't deserve this pain.' Like River can't deserve this pain. You know, she's gone through a lot in her life," she said. She also felt deep pain for Hall's family, whom she described as "insanely beautiful people."
Adding to the tragedy, Beqiri revealed that she was in Majorca the night Hall died, unaware of his presence on the island. "I didn't know, like I wish he called me or like I wished he just gave me a call to be like, whatever. Like 'I need you, like, come help me.' I just wish he just called me," she said.
Remembering Jake Hall
Hall, who ran menswear brand By Jake Hall, joined TOWIE in 2015 and dated co-star Chloe Lewis before leaving the show in 2024. He was engaged to Beqiri in May 2018, but the couple later split after Hall was issued a restraining order. Despite their past, Beqiri emphasized Hall's desire to be remembered for his positive qualities: "I think Jake just wanted to be remembered for everything good that he's done… to be remembered to be an amazing father and how much he loved people."
Beqiri concluded that Hall's death was an accident, stating, "It was an accident, you know, like he obviously like, we all know the same thing, like it was an accident, that's for sure. Like he would never have left River, that's for sure."
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office confirmed at the time of his death: "We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities."
