Miranda Kerr made a surprise return to the catwalk on Tuesday, walking in Stella McCartney's show at Paris Fashion Week for the first time in nearly a decade. The former Victoria's Secret Angel, 43, appeared in a seafoam green jersey dress featuring a knotted waist, hip cut-outs and oversized shoulder pads, with minimal makeup and a sleek braided ponytail.
Star-studded line-up marks nostalgic show
Kerr was not the only familiar face on the runway. Karlie Kloss, 34, also joined the line-up during Paris Fashion Week, as did Amber Valletta, 52, who had not walked in a runway show for two and a half years despite regular appearances at fashion events. The trio gave the Stella McCartney show a distinctly nostalgic feel.
Kerr, now a mother of three, has not retired from modelling but has significantly scaled back her runway appearances compared with her schedule a decade ago.
Milestone appearance for Kerr
This comeback marks a meaningful milestone for Kerr, who had been absent from catwalks since June 2017 when she appeared for Moschino. It is only the third time she has modelled for Stella McCartney, following her debut in October 2011 and a return in September 2013.
Kerr stepped down as a Victoria's Secret Angel in 2013, and her catwalk comeback comes just weeks ahead of the lingerie brand's fashion show broadcast.
Early career controversy
Kerr launched her modelling journey at age 13, winning the 1997 Dolly magazine model search competition. She travelled to Sydney a week before her 14th birthday for a magazine shoot, with local press expressing "concerned outrage" over her young age.
The photoshoot included images of Kerr in swimwear, raising worries about the glorification of young girls in fashion, beauty and entertainment. Speaking at the time, Kerr said: "In the media at the time they were trying to cling on to anything remotely to do with paedophilia. Dolly is a magazine for teenage girls, not for old men. And I was fully clothed! Doing a winter shoot! They just made something out of nothing."
