Millie Mackintosh was seen fighting back tears following comments from her estranged husband, Professor Green, about their marriage woes. The couple, who were married for just two years, confirmed their separation earlier this week in a joint statement.
The rapper, real name Stephen Manderson, had previously spoken about the lack of quality time with his wife, saying they were 'like ships in the night'. He admitted that even when they had time off, they would often end up arguing. The pair had been attending counselling in an effort to save their relationship.
In a statement given to Newsbeat, the couple said: 'It is with sadness and regret that we confirm our separation. It is a mutual decision, we still care deeply about each other and would like it to be known that it is on amicable terms and we wish each other well.'
The two met after the rapper saw Millie on the front cover of FHM and got engaged in 2013. They married at Babington House in Somerset, a venue famous for hosting celebrity events. Despite the split, neither has filed for divorce, and Millie was seen still wearing her wedding ring at London Fashion Week.
Rumours about their marriage had been circulating for months. Professor Green, who grew up on a council estate in Hackney, has often spoken about his challenging upbringing. Millie, a former Made in Chelsea star, comes from a wealthy background — her family invented Quality Street chocolates.
