Michelle Keegan is set to star in a new ITV thriller titled The Blame, marking her first acting role since giving birth to her daughter Palma in March 2025. The 39-year-old actress, best known for her role in Coronation Street, will play DI Emma Crane in the series.
The drama begins with the discovery of teenage figure skater Sophie Madsen's body in a quiet seaside town. As Detective Crane investigates, it becomes clear that Sophie's death was no accident, leading to a darker case involving police corruption, exploitation, and misogyny.
Keegan stars alongside Hollywood actor Douglas Booth, known for roles in The Sandman and Mary Shelley. The series is produced by Nicola Shindler and Richard Fee, who previously worked with Keegan on Netflix's Fool Me Once.
ITV's head of drama Polly Hill praised the series, calling it "a brilliant new crime thriller full of surprising twists." Keegan described returning to work after maternity leave as "daunting" but commended the production's support, saying it felt like "working with family."
The Blame is expected to air on ITV soon, though an exact release date has not been announced.
