Michael Sheen has spoken candidly about a moving moment he shared with his family following a tragic time. The Good Omens star, 57, hails from Newport but has Irish ancestry, with a family rooted in Port Talbot. He has a younger sister, Joanne.
As a child, Sheen was a keen footballer and was offered a place on Arsenal's youth squad at age 12. However, his family declined the move from Wales to London, a decision he later said he was grateful for, acknowledging the slim chances of becoming a professional footballer.
Sheen's love life includes notable relationships with actress Kate Beckinsale (1995-2003), with whom he has a daughter, and Rachel McAdams (2010-2013). He then dated Sarah Silverman from 2014 to 2018. Since 2019, he has been in a relationship with Swedish actress Anna Lundberg, with whom he shares two daughters.
The actor's father, Meyrick, died in 2025 at age 85. Meyrick was known in the community as a Jack Nicholson impersonator. Sheen paid tribute to him as 'an extraordinary character' with a generous spirit. A mural in Port Talbot now includes Meyrick's face alongside Michael's, which Sheen described as 'very moving' for his children to see their grandfather.
