Melanie C, the Spice Girls icon, married her partner Chris Dingwall in a secret wedding ceremony in Cumbria over the weekend. The Mirror exclusively revealed the nuptials, and images released show that fellow Spice Girls Emma Bunton, Mel B, and Geri Horner were present to celebrate.
Victoria Beckham Designs Wedding Gown
Victoria Beckham was absent but designed Melanie's gown. Victoria told Vogue: “Melanie is quite minimalist and didn’t want anything too fussy, conceptual or overly complicated – this is all very aligned with what I do.” The lace pattern was created from two different lace patterns hand-stitched onto a satin slip.
Melanie said of the fitting: “Victoria was so excited about being able to do this for me, and having her and Scarlet there… every step of the way has been very special. Plus, I just love her clothes.”
Custom Adidas Tracksuit for Reception
For the reception, Melanie changed into a custom Adidas tracksuit made from ivory silk with white silk stripes, featuring high-waisted wide-legged trousers and a cropped jacket. She also wore custom Superstar trainers and white and gold sliders with the wedding date engraved.
Spice Girls Bandmates Attend
A source told The Mirror: “All the girls are thrilled for her….they are all so excited. They have never seen her so happy.” Mel was the last Spice Girl to marry; Geri married Christian Horner in 2015, Emma married Jade Jones in 2021, Mel B married Rory McPhee in 2023, and Victoria married David Beckham in 1999.
Romance and Engagement
Melanie met Australian model and screenwriter Chris on celebrity dating app Raya. She said: “Nobody knows this but we actually met on Raya ... Yeah, it can work people!” They got engaged in Mallorca last July. Mel told Vogue: “It was beautiful, just the two of us. He couldn’t believe I was surprised but I was floored.”
Personal Touches
Melanie’s 17-year-old daughter Scarlett was a bridesmaid. The ceremony took place at a Georgian home owned by West End performer Ben Forster, a close friend since they co-starred in Jesus Christ Superstar in 2013.
