Melanie C has revealed she had a 'little chat' with Geri Horner after the former Spice Girls bandmate wore a white dress to her wedding. Despite the fashion faux pas, the ex-Sporty Spice took it in her stride.
Wedding details
Melanie, 52, married her partner Chris Dingwall in an intimate ceremony in the Lake District last month. Only family and very close friends were invited, and all her former Spice Girls bandmates were there, except Victoria Beckham.
Geri's choice of a brilliant white dress raised eyebrows, as it is customary for guests to avoid wearing white to weddings so as not to distract from the bride. However, Melanie admitted she could make an exception for her much-loved bandmate.
Mel's reaction
In an interview with Australian radio station Kiis1065, Melanie said: "I did have a little chat with Geri because it is her favourite colour." She added: "She wears it every day. But she had a beautiful floral dress on and it was 'white' white − I did have a little giggle with her about that."
Geri is well-known for wearing white to big events and has often described it as her favourite colour. Melanie gushed over her wedding, calling it "perfect" and a "beautiful weekend" with loved ones.
Victoria's absence
Melanie admitted that Victoria's absence hurt, but explained that Victoria had been in the US for the FIFA World Cup final. She clapped back at speculation that Victoria chose football over her friend, saying Victoria was "very disappointed" not to make it in time.
"She tried to get out of it," Melanie said. "She isn't the biggest football fan, she won't mind me telling you - but the family were there and David had commitments, being an ambassador for FIFA."
Victoria still contributed to the wedding by designing Melanie's dress and kept in touch on the day. "Of course she made my gorgeous dress and she was messaging me on the day. I actually saw her when I was in Ibiza so we had a little catch up. We were giving her updates and sending her pictures," Melanie added.
