Meghan Trainor has opened up about her decision to use a surrogate for her third child, a baby girl named Mikey Moon Trainor. The singer, who previously gave birth to sons Riley and Barry, said the choice was made after extensive medical consultations to ensure the safest option for her family.
In an interview with People, Trainor explained that surrogacy was not her first choice but became the best path after discussions with doctors. 'This was the safest way for us to be able to continue growing our family,' she said. 'We are forever grateful for that option.' She emphasised that surrogacy is a valid way to build a family, rooted in trust, science, love, and teamwork.
Trainor praised her surrogate as 'one of the most selfless, strong and loving people I've ever met.' She said they felt connected throughout the journey and that the surrogate gave them 'the greatest gift of our lives.' The baby was born on 18 January, with the couple announcing the news two days later on social media.
The singer also shared that her older sons were excited and chose their sister's middle name. Friends including Khloé Kardashian, Lucy Hale, Jeremy Renner, Jimmy Fallon, and Jenna Bush Hager congratulated the family. Trainor has been open about the trauma she experienced after Riley's birth, which required neonatal intensive care and led to post-traumatic stress disorder.
