Meghan Markle has revealed that her five-year-old daughter Princess Lilibet has taken up gymnastics and is loving her new hobby. The Duchess of Sussex shared the sweet family detail while chatting to a group of schoolgirls during a visit to Nottingham with Prince Harry on Thursday.
Chat with schoolgirls
Meghan joined girls aged between 10 and 11 from Bluebell Hill Primary School for a confidence-building and bracelet-making session at the Community Recording Studio (CRS). As she approached the table, the duchess joked: "You're very quiet all of a sudden."
The girls had been given cards asking them when they felt most like themselves, prompting Meghan to ask about their favourite activities. She said: "Do you feel most yourself when you're making bracelets, and being artistic? What are some of the things you like to do?"
Lilibet's gymnastics
When one girl replied that she enjoyed drawing, Meghan told her: "That can be very calming." Others spoke about enjoying crafts and gymnastics, which led Meghan to share what her own daughter has been getting up to. She said: "My daughter is doing gymnastics right now, she loves it. I feel most like myself when I'm with my family and also when I cook. I love to cook, do you? Experimenting?"
Lilibet is not the only young royal with an interest in gymnastics. Her cousin Princess Charlotte, 11, is also known to enjoy the sport.
First joint engagement
The conversation took place during Harry and Meghan's visit to the Community Recording Studio in St Ann's, Nottingham. The organisation works with young people, offering activities including music, sport and mentoring to help them develop confidence and new skills.
It was the couple's first joint public engagement since returning to live in Britain earlier this year. Harry and Meghan also had further visits planned in Nottingham, including stops at Himmah Hub and Epic Partners, which work with local communities and young people.
The outing also marked a return to a city with a special connection for the couple, as Nottingham was where they carried out their first joint engagement following their engagement announcement in 2017.
