Meghan Markle Uses Children to Mitigate UK Return Backlash, Expert Says
Meghan Markle's Tactic to Mitigate UK Return Backlash

Meghan Markle is returning to the UK in July with her husband Prince Harry and their two children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five. This marks the first time the entire family has been together in Britain since 2022. The Duchess of Sussex, 44, has not set foot in the UK for four years and reportedly has mixed feelings about the country.

Expert Highlights Children as 'Mitigating Factor'

According to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams, Meghan has a clever tactic to minimise negative public reaction: bringing her children. Speaking exclusively to the Daily Express, Fitzwilliams said: “Meghan's rating in the YouGov poll is 20 per cent. However, she is bringing the children, and she plans to be the mitigating factor.”

He added: “All too often, their faces have been hidden. How they handle events and how often the children appear will be subject to enormous scrutiny worldwide. The plan is that the children will give her respectability.”

First Family Visit Since 2022

Prince Harry has made several solo trips to the UK since the couple stepped down from royal duties in 2020, but Meghan has remained absent. The upcoming visit will be a significant moment for the family, who are expected to stay at a royal residence, likely Buckingham Palace, though this has not been officially confirmed.

The duration of their stay is unknown. Public opinion in Britain remains divided, with Meghan's approval rating at just 20 per cent according to YouGov. Fitzwilliams believes the presence of Archie and Lilibet could help soften the reception she receives.
