Meghan Markle appeared as a guest judge on MasterChef Australia during a four-day tour with Prince Harry. The Duchess of Sussex, 44, filmed the episode in Melbourne in April. Contestants were tasked with creating a dish "fit for a duchess," though Meghan asked to be called by her first name.
Harry's surprise video call
In an unexpected moment, Prince Harry, 41, called Meghan during the show. Producers handed her the phone, and she greeted him with "hi, my love," later calling him "a charmer."
Body language analysis
Body language expert Inbaal Honigman analyzed Meghan's reaction for Casino. Honigman said: "Prince Harry joining in a video call, sees Meghan’s body language become super proud. Her chin rises with pride, while her eyes soften with the gratitude she feels for her husband for taking the time to ‘pop in’. This is clearly not spontaneous; it is planned, and was possibly hard to plan, so her gratitude is understandable.
"Just before they hang up, the top of her nose scrunches in playfulness and disbelief. She’s thankful but also shocked that they pulled this trick off. The scrunched nose is playful and flirty, and is the most natural and personal expression she shares during the whole broadcast."
The expert added: "For the rest of the show, Meghan attempts to remain classy, elegant and collected, but in front of her beloved husband, she allows herself to be a bit flirty."
Meghan's own show and UK visit
Meghan's appearance on MasterChef Australia follows her own lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, which earned a Daytime Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Lifestyle Program category. Earlier in July, Prince Harry, Meghan, and their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet visited the UK.
