The Duchess of Sussex has earned a daytime Emmy nomination for her heavily criticised Netflix show, With Love, Meghan. The cooking and chat show was slated by critics upon its release, with some calling it “toe-curlingly unlovable” and a “Montecito ego trip not worth taking”. It suffered poor ratings before being cancelled, though the door was left open for future specials.
Show Details and Nomination
The first series of the lifestyle programme launched in 2025 to coincide with the unveiling of Meghan's jam spread brand, As Ever. Despite the backlash, it has been nominated in the outstanding lifestyle programme category at the Daytime Emmy Awards. It will compete against other daytime programmes like NBC America's George to the Rescue, Hallmark's Motherhood, The Wizard of Paws, and A Different Breed.
Poor Ratings and Cancellation
The show was renewed for a second series and spawned a Christmas special, but despite big-name guests including model Chrissy Teigen and comic Mindy Kaling, it could not shake off poor ratings. The second season was the 1,124th most-watched show between July and December 2025 and was eventually cancelled by Netflix.
Fans were baffled by its inclusion on the Emmy nomination list. One X user wrote: “Tell me without telling me that there are almost zero shows to compete in this category. ‘With Love, Meghan’ was the antithesis of entertainment. It was an abysmal, boring slog at best and getting through one episode was painful.” Another wrote: “This is absurd! That show was bad.”
Netflix Deal and Other Projects
Harry and Meghan signed a contract reportedly worth more than £100 million US dollars (£74 million) with Netflix after quitting as senior working royals in 2020. They produced the hit series Harry & Meghan, which holds the record for the biggest debut for a Netflix documentary, with a total of 81.6 million hours watched on its first four days of availability.
However, the couple failed to reach those heights again with shows such as Polo, a documentary about professional polo players, and Heart of Invictus, about Harry's games for wounded veterans, charting poorly in comparison. As Ever announced it had ended its partnership with the streaming giant in March, and the couple have since signed a new first-look deal, giving Netflix a first option on projects by the Sussexes' Archewell Productions.
Upcoming Ceremony
The Emmy winners will be announced at a ceremony in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Palladium on October 30.
