Meghan Markle branded 'copycat' over As Ever basket stunt

Meghan Markle has been accused of copying Pamela Anderson after posting a promotional image for her lifestyle brand As Ever on Instagram. The Duchess of Sussex shared a photo of a wicker basket filled with tomatoes, carrots, apples, and artichokes, captioned 'A basket full of summer.' Critics noted the produce appeared meticulously clean, undermining any suggestion it was homegrown. A subsequent video showed Meghan wearing a $620 shirt and $280 jeans in her garden.

Social media backlash

Fans quickly took to social media to criticise the post. One X user wrote: 'Grifteress Meghan Markle copied that basket idea from the lovely Pamela Anderson’s show. Meghan Markle is a thief, a parasite of other women.' Another commented: 'That must be a truly magical garden that produces out of season items, meticulously clean!' A third added: 'The state of this!'

Comparison to Pamela Anderson

This is not the first time Meghan has been compared to Pamela Anderson. The trailer for her Netflix series With Love, Meghan drew similar accusations of copying Anderson's Cooking with Love trailer. When asked by chat show host Andy Cohen on a scale of one to 10 how much of a rip-off Meghan's show was, Anderson replied: 'One. I didn’t really look, but I mean, I didn’t invent cooking shows.' She added that Meghan is 'just doing her thing.'
