Meghan Markle Criticized for Tone-Deaf Father's Day Promotion
Meghan Markle Blasted Over Father's Day As Ever Message

Meghan Markle has come under fire for her latest Father's Day promotion for her lifestyle brand, As Ever. The Duchess of Sussex sent a newsletter to customers on Tuesday, promoting her products for the special day on June 21.

Controversial Message

The message, titled "Say thanks to Dad," suggested a breakfast-in-bed idea featuring As Ever products like Strawberry Spread and Herbal Lemon Ginger Tea. It read: "Whether you need a simple way to say 'thank you' to Dad or simply want to create a comforting morning moment — breakfast in bed is the perfect treat."

The post included a photo of a silver tray with a croissant, toast, jam, butter, half a clementine, orange juice, and a ramekin of jam with flower sprinkles.

Online Backlash

Critics quickly called the promotion tone-deaf and inappropriate for Father's Day. Royal News Network wrote on X: "This is the worst idea for a Father's Day promotion, but it's Meghan Markle's As Ever, so it's par for the course. This reeks and screams woman, not man."

Another user commented: "If I put that in front of my husband, he would laugh and say what this s*** is." A third said: "My husband's idea of a Father's Day breakfast is scrambled eggs, bacon, hash-browns/home fries and pancakes, not croissants and fake jam."

Hypocrisy Accusations

Many pointed out the irony of Meghan promoting Father's Day given her estranged relationship with her father, Thomas Markle, and father-in-law, King Charles. One user wrote: "How's this for irony? Anyone think Megsie will be knocking on her poor father's door on Father's Day to say her own thanks?"

Another added: "Her egregious hypocrisy never fails to stun…" A third said: "The woman who erased her own father from her life is suggesting how we can use her cheaply made products to honour our own fathers. This is a profound level of arrogant hypocrisy."

One user summed it up: "Boy, she really has some nerve. 'Say Thanks to Dad,' says the woman who cut her own father out of her life, denied him the chance to meet his son-in-law and never allowed him to know his grandchildren. Now she wants to lecture the rest of us about celebrating Father's Day? The hypocrisy is staggering."

Background

The Duchess of Sussex has had little to no contact with her father since 2018, when he did not attend her wedding. King Charles walked her down the aisle instead. After stepping back from royal duties in 2020, she also has limited contact with the King.

Last year, Meghan posted a video of Prince Harry and their children, Archie and Lilibet, for Father's Day with the caption: "The best. Happy Father's Day to our favourite guy."
