Compare the Market's iconic Meerkats have teamed up with chart-topping DJ and producer Joel Corry to release a remix of their famous 'simples' catchphrase, transforming it into a club banger that is already gaining traction online. The track, titled SIMPLES (feat. Scrufizzer) [Joel Corry Remix], features lyrics from grime MC Scrufizzer and is now available on major streaming platforms. All royalties from the song will be donated to Teenage Cancer Trust, supporting specialist nurses, youth workers and dedicated NHS hospital units for young people with cancer.
Remix Inspired by Nostalgia and Club Culture
The remix flips the Meerkats' instantly recognisable catchphrase into a house-inspired anthem. Corry, who has worked with global stars such as MNEK, Raye, Jason Derulo and Charli XCX, said he wanted to create a fun track that would sound big in the club while tapping into nostalgia. The song was initially previewed during Corry's Ibiza performances and later thundered across the main stage at a UK festival, sparking massive crowd responses.
Footage of the track quickly spread across TikTok and Instagram, with clips accumulating more than 1.4 million views across social platforms. A dance craze has also emerged, with content creators including Cach Mercer, Lewis Leigh and Timi joining thousands of supporters sharing choreography and remix footage.
Collaboration with Scrufizzer
Scrufizzer, a grime legend known for his 'Fire in the Booth' appearance with Charlie Sloth (which has exceeded 1 million YouTube views), has previously collaborated with Ed Sheeran, Dizzee Rascal and JME. He fuses rap with contemporary grime and delivers fresh vocals to the composition. Scrufizzer commented: "Once Joel played me the beat, the ideas came quickly and everything felt natural. The Compare the Market 'simples' slogan is one of those catchphrases that has become part of British culture – so it was exciting to bring my own energy to something people already know and love."
He added: "I wanted to bring that hip-house feeling and turn the hook into a call-and-response moment that people can shout back, dance to and have fun with."
Support for Teenage Cancer Trust
The release represents part of Joel Corry's continued backing for Teenage Cancer Trust. All proceeds from the song will help finance the charity's specialist nurses, youth workers and dedicated hospital wards within the NHS, ensuring teenagers and young adults battling cancer receive expert treatment and emotional assistance. Corry said: "I've worked with the charity for several years now and have seen first-hand the incredible difference they make to young people facing cancer. Knowing the track will help support that work gives the project a real purpose beyond the music."
The track is now competing against songs by Olivia Rodrigo, Harry Styles and Olivia Dean in the race for a UK number one. SIMPLES (feat. Scrufizzer) [Joel Corry Remix] is available on Spotify, YouTube and other major streaming platforms.
