Television presenter Maya Jama has openly shared her current health journey, revealing a determined mission to regain weight after a significant loss due to illness. The 31-year-old Love Island host, who is currently in South Africa filming the All Stars series, disclosed that she shed a stone while battling a severe flu at the start of January.

Jama's flu was so debilitating that it forced her to miss a major press launch event for Love Island: All Stars last month. In a candid social media update at the time, she described the illness as 'kicking my a**', highlighting the severity of her condition. The launch panel proceeded without her, featuring voiceover star Iain Sterling, former winners Molly Smith and Tom Clare, along with producers at Soho House in West London.

On Monday, Jama provided her followers with an update via her Instagram Story, filmed while wearing gym gear in a car. She penned: 'Basically lost a stone being sick the other week so we're on a weight gain mission this week.' While traveling to South Africa for filming, Jama shared another health update, revealing she had taken vitamins to boost her immune system and was hoping sunlight would aid her recovery. She wrote: 'Vitamin C'ed up and praying the sun deletes it all.' This marked a shift from her previous travel habits, noting she used to be more social during flights but was now focusing on wellness.
Burglary at Cheshire Home
This health challenge comes amid personal turmoil for Jama and her boyfriend, footballer Ruben Dias. The couple were reportedly 'devastated' after thieves ransacked their £4 million rented home in Cheshire last month. The burglary occurred while Jama was in South Africa for All Stars filming and Dias was playing an away game for Manchester City against Galatasaray.
According to reports, burglars stole thousands of pounds worth of items, including designer clothing, jewellery, and electronics. The couple had only recently moved into the Omaze prize-draw mansion, which costs approximately £20,000 monthly to rent. Dias reportedly discovered the burglary upon returning home from his match, finding the property turned upside down with valuable possessions missing.
A source close to the couple stated: 'They are devastated, the house is the first they have moved into as a couple and is very special to them. Thankfully, neither was at home, but they are very upset that their personal space has been invaded.' The source added that Jama had been particularly proud of their first shared home, frequently posting videos and pictures from the property on social media.

Cheshire Police confirmed they received reports of the burglary on January 28th and found entry had been made to the property with numerous items stolen.
