Maya Jama Explains Hidden 'Illegal' Tattoo Only Seen in Bikini

Maya Jama, the presenter of Love Island, has revealed the meaning behind one of her hidden tattoos, which she got illegally at the age of 15. In an interview with Office magazine, Jama explained that the tattoo was inspired by Rihanna and was done by a tattoo artist in Bristol who had a parrot flying around the room.

The Hidden Tattoo and Its Meaning

Jama said: 'I was, oh my God, I was 15 and me and my friends went to this lady’s house in Bristol and she had a parrot flying around the room, and it was definitely not legal for her to do it but she tattooed all of us.' The tattoo, written in Arabic, reads: 'Love like you’ve never been hurt and dance like nobody’s watching.' Jama added: 'I feel like I’ve lived by that.'

She noted that many of her tattoos are only visible when she wears a bikini or underwear, as they are located on her ribs, hips, and thighs. 'I have quite a lot of tattoos but I realised most of them you only see if I’m in a bikini or underwear, because they’re all rib, hip to thigh,' she said.

Other Tattoos and Personal Life

Jama also showed off a small tattoo on her wrist, describing it as 'a little silly face.' She revealed that she once had a matching infinity sign tattoo with someone, but after the relationship ended, her friends turned it into little emojis.

Recently, Jama split from her footballer boyfriend Ruben Dias, a Manchester City defender. Dias issued a statement denying cheating allegations, saying: 'I feel that when my 85-year-old grandad is asking me if I've cheated on my girlfriend, because he's seen it repeatedly on the news, that's where I draw the line on what's acceptable and what's not.' He added: 'Maya and I have always had a relationship built on mutual respect. No line was ever crossed in that regard.'

Dias emphasised that the reasons for their breakup are private and that they have handled it maturely. He urged respect for both himself and Jama, stating: 'Respect me, respect Maya, and understand that not always one has to betray the other in order for a relationship to end.'
