Maya Jama has arrived in South Africa to film the new series of Love Island All Stars, after pulling out of the launch event due to illness. The 31-year-old host, who was seen looking unwell before her flight, appeared refreshed and smiling in a white shirt and sunglasses upon landing.
Jama had been forced to miss the press launch in London on Monday, just hours before her scheduled flight. A representative confirmed she was unwell and unable to attend, but said she looked forward to the premiere on 12 January. In an Instagram story, Jama wrote that the flu had 'kicked her a**' but that she was 'Vitamin C'd up and praying the sun deletes it all'.
The new series of Love Island All Stars will see 12 former islanders return to the villa for another chance at love. Among the contestants are Whitney Adebayo, Millie Court, Belle Hassan, Charlie Frederick, Helena Ford, and Jack Keating, son of Ronan Keating. ITV bosses have promised the most explosive and longest-running series yet, with a twist involving international islanders joining as late arrivals.
Despite her absence at the launch, ITV commissioning editor Amanda Stavri praised Jama as the perfect host, describing her as 'cool, fun, sexy, and a big fan of the show'. Jama had earlier shared her excitement on Instagram, stating she was 'ready' to return to work in South Africa. Love Island All Stars begins on 12 January at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
