Maura Higgins says Love Island romance with Curtis Pritchard wasn't real
Maura Higgins: Curtis romance wasn't real

Maura Higgins has stated that her romance with Curtis Pritchard on Love Island was not a real relationship. Speaking on Paul C. Brunson's podcast We Need To Talk, the former Love Island star said she does not view their time together as "a relationship" and insisted it "wasn't a thing".

Candid Admission

When asked about leaving the villa with Curtis in 2019, Maura responded: "It's a weird one. I don't really look at it like a relationship. Just like, we never spent time together. I broke up with him over a phone call, I didn't have the respect to do it face to face." She added that "there was nothing there" between them.

An 'Agreement' Not a Relationship

Paul referred to their time together as "an agreement", which Maura did not disagree with. When asked if she thought Curtis viewed their relationship as real, she said: "No. I don't think so. I could be wrong but I can't imagine it." About the break-up, she explained: "I said it and he agreed. There was nothing there. It wasn't love. And the minute we got out, we were both so busy anyway. Let's be real, if it was something, it would've worked. There wasn't anything."

Love Island Journey

Maura entered Love Island as a bombshell in 2019. She initially showed interest in Tommy Fury, but after he coupled up with Molly-Mae Hague, she coupled up with Tom Walker. Their time ended explosively after Tom joked about seeing if "Maura is all mouth or not". She eventually coupled up with Curtis, and they finished fourth on the show. Curtis had previously been with Amy Hart, splitting after he admitted wanting to couple up with someone else during Casa Amor.

Life After Love Island

Curtis has since appeared on other Love Island iterations, including All Stars twice. Maura hosted the Aftersun of Love Island USA and Love Island Games, and reached the final of The Traitors US, becoming a big name in America.

Fan Reactions

After a clip of the podcast went up on TikTok, fans praised Maura for her honesty. Some commenters also expressed a desire for Paul to interview this year's Love Island finalist Jasmine Muller, who has been a divisive figure due to her outspoken nature.
