Matty Healy, the frontman of The 1975, performed with a tribute band during his stag do ahead of his wedding to American model Gabbriette, 28, later this month. The 37-year-old musician celebrated his impending nuptials with a party that featured The 9075, a group that bills itself as “the world’s first tribute to The 1975.”
Stag Do Performance
Videos circulating on social media show Healy on stage with the tribute band, singing and dancing to a rendition of The Sound, a track from the band’s 2016 album I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It. In one clip, Healy yells “where is he, come back,” prompting the tribute band’s lead singer to emerge from the crowd and reclaim the microphone. Healy continued dancing as the crowd cheered. Another video captures Healy crowd-surfing while his bandmate George Daniel sang along to the song Sex.
Tribute Band Background
The 9075 describes itself as bringing “the spirit of the original band to life, creating unforgettable nights filled with nostalgia and excitement.” The band is also followed by Healy’s fiancée, Gabbriette, on Instagram.
Gabbriette’s Hen-Do
Gabbriette, whose real name is Gabriella Leigh Bechtel, celebrated her hen-do in Las Vegas. Photos and videos posted to Instagram show her being handcuffed, spanked by a man dressed as a police officer, and carried onto a private jet. She posed in a hotel room at the Wynn Las Vegas decorated with balloons spelling “Mrs Healy.” Other snaps included fake $100 bills on the floor, posing with burlesque star Dita Von Teese, dancing with an Elvis impersonator, and wearing a “Bachelorette” sash on the runway. A sign read: “I survived Gabbriette’s bachelorette Las Vegas 2026.”
Wedding Plans
Healy and Gabbriette announced their engagement in June 2024 after nine months of dating. In May, Healy’s mother, Loose Women panellist Denise Welch, revealed on the Tom’s Hirschsprung’s Podcast that “Matty gets married in July, which we’re very excited about.” Gabbriette is the lead vocalist of punk rock band Nasty Cherry, formed by Charli XCX, whose husband Daniel is The 1975’s drummer.
The 1975 Hiatus
The 1975’s most recent album, Being Funny In A Foreign Language, was released in 2022. The band has since gone on an “indefinite hiatus” from live performances.
