Matty Healy and Gabbriette Bechtel Tie the Knot
The 1975 frontman Matty Healy has married model and actress Gabbriette Bechtel in a star-studded wedding held at Madonna's former estate, Castillo del Lago, a Spanish Colonial Revival Mansion in the Hollywood Hills. The couple, who have been together for three years, exchanged vows in an old Hollywood-themed ceremony.
Celebrity Guests and Family Attendance
Among the guests was Healy's mother, Loose Women star Denise Welch, who looked on as the couple shared their first kiss. Other notable attendees included singer Charli XCX, various influencers, and social media stars. The newlyweds beamed as Healy dipped his wife back while planting a kiss, with Bechtel gleefully kicking her leg up in the air.
Wedding Attire and Details
Healy kept it classic in a black tuxedo, while Bechtel stunned in a white dress with a voluminous skirt, embroidered train, sculpted bodice, sweetheart neckline, and ruffled long sleeves. She added a cathedral-length veil, fitting the old Hollywood theme. The couple had their wedding rehearsal the day before, leaving the venue in a black Rolls-Royce convertible before partying at the Rainbow Bar & Grill in West Hollywood.
Engagement and Relationship Timeline
Healy proposed to Bechtel in 2024 after they began dating in September 2023. Announcing their engagement, she shared a photo of her striking black ring, captioning it: "Marrying the 1975 is very Brat." Earlier this year, Denise Welch spoke about the wedding plans on Tom Hirschsprung's podcast, saying, "Matty gets married in July, which we're very excited about." She also expressed her joy on Loose Women: "I couldn't be more thrilled. She is everything I would want in a daughter-in-law."
Healy's Past Relationship with Taylor Swift
Healy's ex-girlfriend, Taylor Swift, recently married NFL star Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden on July 3, with 1,000 guests. Swift and Healy first dated in 2014 and briefly rekindled their romance in May 2023, ending it by June. Radio 1 host Greg James called the Swift-Kelce wedding the "wedding of the century" and joked that they provided the "first 10,000 drinks free."
