Jennifer Aniston has opened up about Matthew Perry's final days, revealing in her first official interview since his death that the actor was 'happy' and 'healthy' in the weeks leading up to his tragic passing.
The 54-year-old Friends star told Variety she exchanged texts with Perry just hours before he was found unresponsive at his Los Angeles home on 28th October. 'He was healthy. He had quit smoking. He was getting in shape. He was happy – that’s all I know,' she said, wiping away tears.
Aniston, who played Rachel Green opposite Perry's Chandler Bing for ten years, added: 'I was literally texting with him that morning, funny Matty. He was not in pain. He wasn’t struggling. He was happy.' A post-mortem examination returned inconclusive results, and the exact cause of death remains unknown.
A joint statement from the five surviving Friends cast members described themselves as 'utterly devastated' by the loss, saying: 'We were more than just castmates. We are a family.' Aniston later shared a separate tribute on social media, including a black-and-white photo of the pair laughing on set and a heartfelt message recalling their last texts.
