Matt Willis has shared his response after being told his wife, Emma Willis, needs to "up her game". The Busted star's reaction came to light as he chatted to Radio X's Chris Moyles, who was clearly impressed with Matt's physical appearance, especially in a post-holiday snap for his new book.
Chris Moyles praises Matt's appearance
Chris observed that Matt was "never an ugly man" nor was he ever overweight, but he was now "smouldering". Matt modestly replied that "not taking drugs and drinking" every day helps.
Chris joked: "Is that what that does? Look what, Look at...Emma Willis is lucky, isn't she?" Matt jokingly asked him to repeat this claim as it was the "first time" he'd ever heard it being said.
'She's got to up her game'
Chris said: "Let's be honest now, your wife - if I can say - very handsome woman." He added: "Very likeable, very talented, lovely, beautiful. She's punching now with this, though, isn't she? She's got to up her game."
Matt, who struggled with alcohol and drug addiction in the past but is now nine years clean, didn't think she'd "agree". He said: "Not if social media comments can be taken in. I don't think she'd agree with that, but yeah. Yeah, man, you know, I mean, like I said, you know, not drinking and taking drugs every day does tend to have that effect on you."
Matt on Emma's Strictly role
In other news, Matt, who has been married to Emma since 2008, recently shed light on how his wife is finding her new hosting role on Strictly Come Dancing alongside Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe. Emma, Josh and Johannes' new three-host format fills the gap left by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, who parted ways with the BBC show at the end of the 2025 series.
As he plugged his book on This Morning on Thursday (October 8), host Tess asked Matt: "She's doing the most amazing job on Strictly. Is she enjoying it? Are you watching it? Do you love it?"
Matt replied: "I have never watched so much Strictly in my life! I'm so in. I've been to a live show, I'm watching every episode... She's smashing it. She's so happy. She loves it!"
Co-host Ben Shepherd said: "Emma has experience of doing these big shows, Josh and JoJo don't necessarily have that experience doing those huge shows. How is she coping with that part of it?"
Matt replied: "I don't think she pays attention to anything. She's very good at just doing her job, and she puts her head down and does the best she can. She loves working with Josh and JoJo, and they're great, and they're brilliant, and they're lovely people. They're all in this thing together. It's a new job, it's exciting, and she's loving it!"
Catch Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One tonight (October 10), from 6.15pm to 8.35pm.
