Saturday Kitchen star Matt Tebbutt has announced his next BBC project after leaving MasterChef: The Professionals following just one series. The 52-year-old chef will host a new podcast for BBC Sounds titled 'Checkout Confessions'.
Revealing the venture on Instagram, Tebbutt wrote: 'I’ll be rummaging through some famous guests’ shopping baskets, uncovering childhood favourites, guilty pleasures and must-have buys. It’s the ultimate supermarket snoop!'
The news comes days after Tebbutt addressed his departure from the MasterChef spin-off. He stated on social media: 'I was only ever doing one series and I loved judging on it and will continue working with MasterChef.' Sources suggest he may return as a guest judge in future.
A source told The Sun that BBC bosses decided to continue with just Marcus Wareing and Monica Galetti, noting: 'Three was a bit of a crowd. Matt has taken it all in his stride and has plenty of other work to keep him busy.'
A Banijay spokeswoman declined to comment on speculation about the presenting line-up for future series. Tebbutt had joined the show last September, calling it 'an absolute honour to be working alongside these two titans of the food world.'
