Saturday Kitchen presenter Matt Tebbutt and his wife Lisa have announced the death of their cat Mr Boots at the age of 17. The couple shared a series of photographs commemorating their time with the pet, along with heartfelt tributes on social media.
In his post, Matt wrote: "The ever present, wonderful Mr Boots… seventeen years an unfaltering and faithful companion. You will be so sorely missed my friend. Godspeed xx." The accompanying images showed Mr Boots lounging on an outdoor table, sticking his tongue out in a cardboard box and snuggling under a blanket.
Lisa Tebbutt's tribute
Matt's wife Lisa also paid tribute to Mr Boots, writing: "Gone now, but will never be forgotten. The most loved cat… and yes, Matt did love Mr Boots more than me and the kids. Because, well, we all loved him very much indeed."
Fans quickly offered their support, with one commenting: "Oh Mr Boots. So profoundly sad and so sorry for your loss. Sending biggest hugs and love." Another wrote: "Mr Boots was lucky to have been so loved," while a third said: "Sending much love to you all – it's heartbreaking losing our beloved cats."
Family life
Matt and Lisa share two children, daughter Jessie, 24, and son Henry, 22. The couple have been married for 27 years and generally keep their family life private, though Matt has occasionally shared details about their children over the years.
Henry is a qualified pilot who recently graduated from St. Andrews University. In 2025, Matt shared an update as his son embarked on his first solo flight for the Royal Air Force. Jessie, meanwhile, graduated from Goldsmiths University with a First in music.
Matt has also spoken publicly about a long-held grudge involving his wife and Sir Steve Redgrave. In the early days of their marriage, Lisa mentioned meeting the Olympian at the jewellery shop where she worked. Matt recalled on a podcast in 2025: "Something's just leapt into my brain. So... many, many years ago, my wife used to work at a jewellery shop. So, 30 years ago this was, you came into her shop and she said to me, 'guess what? Steve Redgrave came into the shop today', and I went, 'oh really? That's nice'. And she went, 'oh he's a proper man'. And this was before we were married, and I've held onto this until this moment."
