Matt Baker, the Countryfile presenter, has spoken about the heartbreaking loss of his beloved Border Collie, Bob, who died last year. In an interview with Radio Times, the 48-year-old admitted the loss took 'a lot of getting over'.
Baker, who has been part of the BBC show since 2009, lives on a smallholding in Chiltern Hills with his family and several animals. Bob had been with him through major life moments, making his absence difficult.
Emotional tribute on Instagram
In May, Baker announced Bob's death on Instagram, sharing photos from the dog's life. He revealed the dog had been gone for a while, but he had been unable to talk about it due to overwhelming sadness. His caption read: 'It's with a very heavy heart that I'm letting you know our wonderful Bob is no longer with us... It's broken my heart but I feel hugely grateful to have had him in our lives.'
Baker added: 'We're fortunate to have these animals in our lives. Every single one has taught me something and I'm grateful. Grief is the price you pay for love.'
Fans offered condolences, with one writing: 'So sorry for your loss. You are so right. They break your heart at the end.' Another said: 'He was lucky to have had you and your family in his life, as you had him in yours.'
