Fans of The Masked Singer are convinced they have unmasked Toastie as Loose Women star Brenda Edwards. The ITV show, which returned for a new series on 3 January, saw its second episode air on Saturday 24 January, featuring a fresh batch of characters including Toastie.
Before performing, Toastie offered clues via a video tape, including a picture of Dressed Crab – revealed in a previous series as Gregory Porter – and numerous kitchen references. The character then delivered a rendition of Benson Boone's 'Beautiful Things'.
The judging panel offered their guesses: Jonathan Ross suggested Michelle Heaton, Perrie Edwards proposed Beverley Knight, Maya Jama guessed Alexandra Burke, Mo Gilligan opted for Chaka Khan, and Davina McCall went with Marisha Wallace. However, viewers at home disagreed, with many pointing to Edwards.
One fan wrote: 'Yeh Toastie sounds like Brenda Edwards #TheMaskedSinger,' while another added: 'If toastie isn't Brenda thingymebob from Loose Women, then I'm bamboozled.' A third said: 'Convinced Cheese Toastie is Brenda Edwards.'
The episode featured a double unmasking. The Masked Singer continues Saturdays at 7pm on ITV and ITVX.
