Actors Martin Freeman and Amanda Abbington have ended their relationship after 16 years together. The couple, who star together in BBC's Sherlock and will appear in its upcoming fourth series, have two children.
Freeman, 45, confirmed the split in an interview with the Financial Times, stating: 'I'm not with Amanda any more. It's very, very amicable – I'll always love Amanda.' No further details were provided.
The pair met in 2000 on the set of the film Men Only and have since appeared together in several other productions, including The Good Night and The Robinsons. They have generally kept their private life out of the public eye, though they have made occasional red carpet appearances.
Freeman and Abbington were recently together at a promotional event for the New Year's Day episode of Sherlock, where their characters John and Mary Watson introduce their baby daughter.
