Mark Ronson has admitted he has had to re-examine his past friendship with Michael Jackson following the abuse allegations made against the late singer. The DJ and music producer, now 50, was introduced to the King of Pop as a young teen.
Ronson spent an evening with Jackson in a hotel room at the age of 13. He has now reflected on their time together after a number of claims by others, including those made by Wade Robson and James Safechuck in the documentary Leaving Neverland 2.
Ronson said he was introduced to Jackson by Sean Ono Lennon, son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, and later attended an afterparty with around 50 others in Jackson's hotel room. He recalled Jackson throwing damp toilet paper from the window at parked cars.
In his new book, Ronson insists nothing untoward took place between them, but acknowledged the moments sound strange. He said he had put the encounter 'back through that lens a hundred times' since the allegations emerged, concluding there was 'nothing weird or untoward on that night'.
Jackson, who died in 2009, always strongly denied any claims of misconduct. Ronson's reflections come as the legal cases against Jackson's estate continue.
