Will Ferrell Joins Margot Robbie's Live-Action Barbie Film

Will Ferrell has joined the cast of Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie's live-action Barbie film, adding to an already star-studded lineup. The Anchorman actor is the latest addition to the project, which is currently shooting at Warner Bros.' Leavesden Studios in the UK.

Margot Robbie leads the cast as the iconic doll, alongside Ryan Gosling as Ken, Kate McKinnon, Simu Liu, Alexandra Shipp, and America Ferrera. Oscar-winning director Greta Gerwig co-wrote the screenplay with her partner, Noah Baumbach. Ferrell's role is reportedly the CEO of a toy company, possibly Barbie's creator Mattel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Details of the plot remain under wraps, but sources suggest a meta aspect to the film. Robbie, who produces via her LuckyChap company, teased that the movie will be 'totally different – the thing you didn’t know you wanted.' She noted that Barbie comes 'with a lot of baggage' and 'nostalgic connections,' but Gerwig's involvement signals a fresh take.
