As of July 21, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu landed on streaming platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV, but it was only available to rent or buy. The film, directed by Jon Favreau, follows bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu as they team up with the New Republic to rescue Rotta the Hutt (Jeremy Allen White).
No Disney+ Release Date Yet
The film is not yet streaming on Disney+, but as it is a Disney movie, it is expected to land on the platform in the near future. All new Disney theatrical films end up on Disney+ between three and six months after opening in cinemas, but an official Disney+ release date is yet to be announced. Some fans predict a mid-September release.
Fans Express Frustration
Fans took to X, formerly Twitter, to air their frustration. One said: "I just subscribed to Disney + for this movie and it’s not there yet." Another added: "You would think it would be a Disney+ exclusive." A third shared: "So...I can purchase The Mandalorian and Grogu on Prime Video to watch...But it's not available on Disney+ yet...where I am also a subscriber..."
DVD Release and Bonus Features
As well as its digital release, The Mandalorian and Grogu will also be released on DVD on August 26 and will include bonus features. The film also stars Sigourney Weaver, with Martin Scorsese and Jeremy Allen White lending their voices.
