Madonna Reveals Secret Fallout with Daughter Lourdes Healed by New Album
Madonna Reveals Secret Fallout with Daughter Lourdes

Madonna has revealed that her new album, Confessions II, healed her relationship with her eldest daughter, Lourdes 'Lola' Leon. The singer opened up about a secret fallout with Lourdes, explaining that the album served as a way to mend their bond.

How the Song Came Together

In an interview with Interview magazine, Madonna said she was shocked when Lourdes suggested they collaborate on a song. 'For instance, the song I wrote with my daughter, Lola. She approached me about writing a song together as a way to heal our relationship,' Madonna said. What initially seemed like a simple collaboration turned into a deeper reconciliation.

The timing felt right after a series of family bereavements. 'Well, all these symbolic things happened. My step-mother died, my brother was ill, my brother died, my daughter approached me… you know what I mean? It's hard for me to write a song about nothing. I have to tell a story. So I wrote about a lot of family trauma, and then we started making dance music,' she explained.

Album Announcement and Philosophy

Madonna announced Confessions II in April, urging people to 'dance, celebrate, and pray with our bodies.' Quoting her song One Step Away, she said: 'People think that dance music is superficial, but they've got it all wrong. The dance floor is not just a place, it's a threshold: A ritualistic space where movement replaces language.'

She added: 'We must dance, celebrate, and pray with our bodies. These are things that we've been doing for thousands of years - they really are spiritual practices. After all, the dance floor is a ritualistic space. It's a place where you connect with your wounds, with your fragility. To rave is an art. It's about pushing your limits and connecting to a community of like-minded people.'

Lourdes on Music and Healing

Lourdes has also shared her own experiences with music as a healing tool. Writing about a song, she said: 'A song about a relationship where I completely lost myself and felt haunted at every turn by lingering, unwelcome spirits. They seemed to make homes wherever I went, dwelling in every corner of my mind. What a gift it is to channel those emotions through art.. to process them and finally set them free. Thank you to everyone who helped bring this one to life.'
