Madonna and Charli XCX have seemingly ended their rumoured feud after a wild night out in Paris, where they were seen dancing together and partying until the early hours. The two pop stars attended the Saint Laurent menswear spring/summer 2027 fashion show on 23 June and later hit the town, putting recent tensions behind them.
From Shade to Solidarity: How the Feud Started
Just weeks earlier, Madonna made a pointed comment about Charli's music after the British singer released her single 'Rock Music', which included the lyric: "the dancefloor is dead, so now we're making rock music". Madonna responded on social media: "If your dance floor feels dead, maybe you're playing the wrong music." This sparked speculation of a feud between the two artists.
Fashion Show Reunion: Cheek Kisses and Celebrity Company
At the Saint Laurent show, the pair sat next to each other and exchanged kisses on the cheek as Madonna took her seat. They were later seen smoking and chatting with other celebrities, including actor Connor Storrie, Debi Mazar, and Kate Moss. Charli sat between Madonna and Mazar, and the group appeared relaxed and friendly throughout the event.
Dancing the Night Away: Hung Up and Hands Held
By the end of the night, Madonna and Charli were videoed dancing together behind a DJ booth, holding hands as Madonna's 2005 hit 'Hung Up' played. Charli, who had worn a red leather dress with a lace bodice to the show, changed into a short-sleeved, black mesh dress that was see-through. Madonna, 67, swapped her red lace mini dress for an even shorter wrap dress and leather boots.
Madonna's Impromptu Performance: 'Mother Is Here'
In another video, Madonna climbed onto the DJ table to sing and spray water on the crowd. She struggled to get up and had to be helped by the DJ. Before her impromptu performance, she grabbed a microphone and declared: "Mother is here. Mother is here. Are you ready for me Paris?"
Healing Family Wounds: Madonna's New Album
The Paris outing comes after Madonna revealed a secret fallout with her daughter Lourdes and said her upcoming album, which features a song they worked on together, helped "heal" their relationship. "She approached me about writing a song together as a way to heal our relationship," Madonna told Interview magazine. She added: "Well, all these symbolic things happened. My step-mother died, my brother was ill, my brother died, my daughter approached me… you know what I mean? It's hard for me to write a song about nothing. I have to tell a story. So I wrote about a lot of family trauma, and then we started making dance music."
Charli XCX Opens Up About Mental Health Struggles
Charli, meanwhile, has been candid about her mental health. In an interview with Rolling Stone, she revealed she quit social media because it was putting her in "the worst place mentally". "I have actually been a lot more offline," she said. "I don't really look as much anymore. It's just better for my brain. I know people probably won't believe me, because I am inherently, at least in the past, a very online artist. But I recently have been really struggling with my mental health to the point where, if I'm being real, I'm in the worst place mentally that I've been in my life."
