Madeley confronts Jenrick over hot mic blunder

Reform UK's Robert Jenrick was forced to confront his earlier hot mic blunder on Good Morning Britain, as host Richard Madeley jokingly asked him: "That wasn't a waste of time, was it?" The MP appeared on the ITV programme to discuss topics including Prime Minister Andy Burnham's social care reforms and Green Party leader Zack Polanski's refusal to apologise to Nigel Farage.

Hot mic moment revisited

As the interview concluded, Madeley and co-host Kate Garraway thanked Jenrick for his time. Madeley then turned to the politician with the teasing question, prompting laughter from both hosts. A red-faced Jenrick responded: "No, it wasn't."

The exchange comes after Jenrick landed in an awkward position following an earlier interview with Susanna Reid. After criticising the Labour Government, Jenrick aired his frustration at the end of the interview, brutally saying: "Well, that was a waste of time," unaware his microphone was still on.
