American country music star Luke Combs gave fans at his second sold-out Edinburgh show an unforgettable surprise by inviting three famous Scots on stage for a beer shotgunning celebration.
The singer, known for his hit Ain't No Love In Oklahoma, was performing at Scottish Gas Murrayfield on Saturday, July 25, as part of his My Kinda Saturday Night 2026 tour. After selling out both nights at Scotland's largest stadium, Combs had another surprise in store for the 67,000 fans at Saturday's show.
Star Guests Join Combs On Stage
Having already brought Scotland rugby brothers Zander and Matt Fagerson on stage during Friday night's concert, Combs welcomed three more famous Scots to join him. This time it was Tartan Army favourite and Aston Villa captain John McGinn, Outlander star Sam Heughan, and Rebus actor Richard Rankin who emerged from backstage alongside Combs' mum.
A video shared on TikTok by user @silvxrrr_ captured the moment as Combs belted out the lyric, "What do you say we shotgun one," from his 2019 hit 1, 2 Many, before turning towards the side of the stage.
Scottish Trio Dressed for the Occasion
As the camera pans around, the trio walk out to deafening cheers from the crowd, with many shocked to see the unlikely trio walking out together. Heughan, dressed in a grey kilt with an open shirt, appeared delighted as he bounced up and down, soaking up the atmosphere. McGinn kept it casual in black jeans, a white T-shirt, and a trucker cap, while Rankin also embraced the occasion in a kilt.
Each of the Scottish stars carried a can of Tennent's as they made their way over to Combs before taking part in a shotgun beer challenge with the country singer. Shotgunning a beer is a popular drinking challenge where a small hole is made near the bottom of a can before the ring pull is opened. The air rushing in from the top forces the beer out through the hole, allowing it to be downed in just a few seconds.
The stunt has become an American staple at parties and sporting events, and the Scottish trio happily joined Combs in taking on the challenge before throwing their empty cans into the packed crowd.

The stadium erupted with cheers and screams as the group exchanged hugs and handshakes. Without saying a word, McGinn, Heughan, and Rankin then made their exit, leaving the crowd buzzing after the unexpected cameo. The surprise appearance quickly delighted fans online, with many saying it had become one of the highlights of the night. Taking to the comment section of the video, one fan simply wrote: "Best night ever!!"
Another, speaking about McGinn, said: "Just when I thought I couldn't like the man anymore. Our captain on stage with our fave artist," alongside blue and purple heart emojis. While a third joked: "Does Sam Heughan ever stop?" Another social media user was left stunned by the crossover, penning: "How the hell has John McGinn ended up on stage with Luke Combs," followed by a laughing face emoji.
