Lucy-Jo Hudson, the 32-year-old actress best known for her role as Katy Harris on Coronation Street, has been hitting the gym hard to cope with the end of her marriage to Alan Halsall. The couple, who wed in 2009 and have a four-year-old daughter named Sienna Rae, confirmed their separation earlier this month.
Determined not to let heartbreak derail her fitness journey, Hudson has enlisted the help of personal trainer Wendy Kearsley at the David Lloyd gym in Trafford Park, Manchester. The actress, who previously lost two stone, is undergoing intense workouts including flipping a huge tyre, as seen in an exclusive video where she laughs through the exertion.
A source told Mirror Celeb: 'She was struggling to fit into a size 12 when she was playing Katy Harris in Coronation Street and managed to lose two stone. She was scared her diet and fitness might slip after the breakdown of her marriage and decided to enlist the help of a personal trainer to keep her mind and body healthy.'
Hudson has been sharing her progress on Instagram, posting sweaty gym photos with the caption: 'Back in training with this fit bird @wendyk_pt @davidlloydmanchester #strongnotskinny #guns #weights #fitness #strength #health #loveit xxx.' She also showed off her slim figure in multi-coloured leggings, trainers, and a black top.
The actress and Halsall, who plays Tyrone Dobbs on Coronation Street, got together while working on the ITV soap. Their statement read: 'Lucy-Jo Hudson and Alan Halsall are sad to announce that they have separated. They have shared many wonderful years together and will remain close friends. They ask for privacy at this emotional time, to allow both to focus on their beautiful daughter Sienna-Rae, to ensure her continued happiness.'
Hudson previously spoke about her weight gain during her time on the cobbles, saying she went from eight-and-a-half stone to almost 11 stone within 12 months. She lost the weight with the help of her rugby player brother Ryan, and now uses exercise to stay focused as she balances work and motherhood.
